At First Congregational United Church of Christ we have two primary goals through which all of our children's ministries flow: First, that every child in our ministries knows that they are deeply and wonderfully loved by God. Second, that each child knows that their church loves them and stands by them no matter what as children and throughout their lives. We never stop learning about God and it is often our children who have some of the most profound insights!
Our wonderful Nursery, held in room 202 for our infant – 2 year olds, is open every Sunday from 9:30 a.m. until the end of the worship service. Our nursery room has toys galore and two loving staff members waiting to greet your little one.
Pre-school Sunday school is held in room 205 for our 3 year old – Kindergarten children. We use a delightful new curriculum called Deep Blue. Children follow three fun characters as they explore the Bible stories through a DVD story, children’s Bible, arts and crafts, games, and songs.
Elementary Sunday school is divided into two classes -- the 1st – 2nd graders and the 3rd – 5th graders. Both classes use a rotation curriculum based on multiple intelligences. One particular Bible story is taught per month. Each week the story is presented in one of five ways through: Arts and Crafts, Storytelling/Drama, Games, Music, or Science. These two classes rotate between room 203 and the Chapel. One of the two instructors for each class will meet the children in the parlor following the Children’s Conversation and escort them to the Chapel for a short gathering and then on to one of the classrooms.
Please note that for each of these programs, parents are required sign their children in and/or out of the classrooms as part of our safe church policies and a cell phone number provided in case of emergency.
