Fair Trade Products: We sell various items to help small farmers and workers get fair prices and working conditions: Green Parrot Coffee (Honduran Ministry), baskets (Uganda), scarves (women in a Turkish town struck by an earthquake), olive oil (Palestine), pecans (Georgia farmers/Erie House in Chicago), and SERRV items (global effort of UCC Ministry), and we have helped raise money for Heifer International (helps people throughout the world raise their own food and livestock).

  • refugee ministry

"Get up! Flee to Egypt with the child and his mother," the angel said. "Stay there until I tell you to return, because Herrod is going to search for the child to kill him."  Matthew 2:13

Jesus and his family were, according to Matthew's gospel, refugees in Egypt, as were Joseph's family, and many Israelites after drought, war, and defeat. Today, millions of God's children are fleeing war, drought, and drug violence in the hopes of a new future. Our church is partnering with St. Luke's Presbyterian, St. Paul's UCC, Mecca House Mosque, and several other local faith communities to minister and aid a refugee family to make a new life here in the United States. We are working with Refugee One ministries.

    • Child Sponsorship. We have committed to providing $300 per year through Global Ministries to sponsor a young Palestinian girl, at Rawdat el Zuhur, a school for impoverished children in East Jerusalem, Palestinian Territories.
    • Disaster Relief, such as Hurricane Katrina – Members of our congregation joined with people from other nearby churches in work groups that went to New Orleans to help repair and rebuild homes for people in need. We expect there will be more trips in the future.
    • Council for American Indian Ministry (CAIM). We support this UCC program that covers 23 UCC congregations at impoverished American Indian reservations in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Nebraska, and North and South Dakota.
