Two Way Street Coffee House

The Two Way Street Coffee House is open Friday evenings from 7:30 pm until at least 10:30 om. For 47 years, we’ve featured live folk and acoustic musical entertainment every Friday night. We’re the oldest music coffee house in the Midwest, and almost the oldest in North America.

We have earned an international reputation for our music programming. This music, both traditional and original, communicates the underlying emotional excitement of our daily lives and heritage. They are songs of celebration, work, faith, love, hardship, justice, protest and fun, and are accompanied by guitar, banjo, fiddle, mandolin, dulcimer, piano, percussion and other instruments.

We present primarily Midwestern artists, although we are in great demand by professionals from across North America and beyond, who enhance our schedules. We also open our stage frequently to emerging artists, many of whom have gone on to successful musical careers.

We also present several artists each year in partnership with Chicago’s nationally syndicated radio station WFMT (98.7 FM) and its Folkstage series. We are active in the music industry group Folk Alliance International and often present artist showcases at their events.

In addition to our popular concerts every Friday, we offer open mikes monthly for high school and college students, and quarterly for all ages. We offer monthly country/western sing-arounds, old-time barn dances, twice-monthly multi-genre sing-arounds, a Tuesday evening song circle, and a stage at the two-day Fox Valley Folk Festival each Labor Day weekend.

We offer a very informal environment, and serve coffees, teas, soda, cider, hot chocolate and snacks. No alcohol nor meals are served. We are a non-smoking coffee house and we welcome all ages. We have a requested donation of $10 for our Friday concerts.
